// about

Born in Poland,building in Atlanta.

TheLion.AI is an independent collective of programmers, lecturers, startup founders, and researchers focused on advancing healthcare through artificial intelligence. Originally founded at Gdańsk University of Technology, we now span multiple universities and have grown into a community of over 70 people.

The same founders are now building its US home in Atlanta: open-source projects, monthly meetups and workshops, and NVIDIA-certified training for companies — with the papers and tools shared across both places.

Barbara Klaudel

Co-founder

A seasoned AI researcher and data scientist recognized as one of Forbes' 25 under 25 young innovators in Poland. With over 5 years of expertise, she spearheaded the development of the UMIE datasets, creating the world's largest collection of radiological imaging with 1 million annotated medical images. Barbara's work earned her a place among the Leaders in Healthcare by the Leśław Paga Foundation and secured the team the Digital Venture Final Prize as one of Europe's 28 most innovative early-stage startups. Her projects include the Universal Medical Image Encoder (UMIE) and a risk calculator for catheter-induced coronary artery and aortic dissections, currently implemented in two hospitals. She has conducted over 50 lectures and workshops on AI and spoken at international conferences including AAAI, EACL, and the European Congress of Radiology.
